Serving San Luis Obispo and Northern Santa Barbara Counties 805.466.7457

We will be having our north county Trailer Rodeo Sunday May 5th. We will be welcoming CHP to this training, who will review new laws that are in effect for 2019 and go over general road safety. All members are encouraged to bring their truck and trailers to this training in order for CHP to do a quick inspections of your vehicles. The inspection is for educational purposes only and no citations will be issued. After the inspections, we will have what is considered the Class A driving course set up for all members to maneuver. This is not a test, but a good practice for all first responders and trailer teams. There will be several crew members in the field to assist you as needed. Everyone is welcome, even if you don't have a truck/trailer. You can partner up with someone and help them maneuver the course. This could happen in an actual emergency, so better to do it while it's clear and daylight, then dark and smokey!

Hopefully, we will have shirts available if you have already ordered them.

Come join us for our Trailer rodeo on Saturday April 6th at the Elks Rodeo Areana in Santa Maria (Follow signs as you get off the freeway, we will be using gate 1) at 8:45 am. We will have the CHP available to give us new updates on the laws for hauling a trailer. He will also be conducting trailer inspections (no tickets issued) to help you improve your towing experience. We will also have a course set up for you to test and practice your driving skills. There will be no judgments here, just lot of people to help you improve your skills. It is a great and safe place to learn to drive your rig. (I learned to drive a 40 ft 5th wheel this way). You are not limited to just bringing your horse trailer. Any rig you need to learn to drive will work (as long as you are licensed to drive it). Come out and join the fun. You need not be a member of HEET for this event, but we would love to have you join us.

March 2nd: Fire Safety with CAL FIRE (Community room Airport Station 21, 4671 Broad Street, San Luis Obispo)  The Crew of Airport Station 21 will once again be hosting us for one of our most important training events of the year. This training is especially important  for our trailer teams and first responders or anyone who owns a home in fire rich areas. Some of the things they will review is proper clothing/boots to wear while in the field on an emergency, how to park our vehicles while we are on properties, how fire moves, danger signs to look for and one of the most important part of the class, the Incident Command System. The Incident Command is a very intricate part of any fire, large or small and is important for us to learn how it works, since our incident commander is welcomed and encouraged to be at the IC post during an emergency.

Training for Saturday, March 2nd starts at 9 am. There is limited parking at the station. We have been asked to park elsewhere, we have permission to park up the hill at ACIJET  945 Airport Drive , park as close to the fire station as possible and walk down to the front door.
